Training Camp Lead – 25th of february

Dear climbing friends,

First full day in Catalonia, first full day of sunshine, hard work and tired Belgian climbers. It was as if the sun brought forth the passion for climbing, the hunger to go higher and harder than ever before.

We should start yesterday, Friday the 24th. We left rainy Belgium to arrive in, yes of course, rainy Barcelona. After a long walk, guided by Didier and Héloise who were already in Barcelona, we arrived in our hotel. We searched for a place to have diner and found a cheap Peruvian restaurant, La Sangucheria, in which we had good, handmade and very healthy hamburgers. With fries, which made it a bit less healthy.

After a short night rest the bus of the Catalan Tourist Board and Costa Daurada tourism board picked us up at the hotel and drove us straight to Parking 2 of the Siurana Climbing Area. Amazing view, especially since the sun started shining the minute we got off the bus. It was as if Catalonia was welcoming us on our lead training camp.

A short walk and some warming up later, all our athletes showed why they came here. 7a, 7b, … every grade until 8c went down. We saw onsights, second, third and more attempts who reached the top. It was amazing how the team started this training camp and it gives us good hope on things to expect the upcoming days.

Tomorrow we will go to Margalef to do as many onsight attempts as possible.

For now, let some pictures speak for themselves, we will publish more later this week…

Venga, a muerte!!!!
